I looked at recovering my seats and it was far too much cash IMO. So, I bought a pair of 8 way power seats out of a 2002 Carrera that was being gutted for the track. Paid $750 shipped from a performance company in CA.

The driver's seat had memory in it, as they all do (I think). This presented a real problem.

The passenger seat plugged right in and worked fine, taking a whopping ten minutes to do (removal of old seat and installation and bolt-down of new seat). Driver's seat would not move in any direction due to the electronics.

I believe someone on renntech has rewired their driver's seat to bypass the memory controls and make it work, but it was just too daunting a task for me. So, I removed the seat base, back insert and back surround from the new seat and put it on my old frame.

Seats look identical, but the passenger's side is full power and the driver's side is standard back tilt only... which is fine with me. No one drives the car but me and it never, ever moves. The wife, however, constantly fiddles with her seat position to remain comfortable on long trips and loves "her" new fully adjustable seat.

Replacing the worn, puked on, faded and sun dried seats in my car made the difference in selling it and keeping it for me. I highly recommend it as one of the best mods I have done thus far to my car.
