Do not compare the 'S' tranny with the tranny in the 2.5L. You have to compare it with the 2.7L tranny. Porsche made significant improvements in the 2.7L tranny from the 2.5L. There was an Excellence magazine article from around a year ago comparing the 2.5L with the 2.7L. It called the 2.5L "obsolete." One of the main improvements in the 2.7L was the tranny. Try letting a 2.7L driver drive your 'S' and ask him for a comparision.

You might not notice the 'S' tranny faults unless you are familiar with how a Porsche should shift. CFG, and enthusiasts with many years of Porsche driving experience in different models, will notice its faults. I do not know what your previous car was but say it was a Camaro, then you will natuarally think the 'S' shifts great.

Take a test drive in a 2.7L and you will experience how a Porsche should shift and the 'S' tranny problems will become crystal clear.
