Properly engineered turbo systems have lower parasitic losses than supercharger systems. A turbocharger uses some of the energy in the exhaust gases that would normally be thrown away to spin the charger, while a supercharger taps directly into crankshaft power for the energy to compress the intake charge. Usually this translates directly to more HP at the wheels for turbo systems.
