I am no wheelologist, and i have only put after market rims on about 13 of my own cars so far, but it sounds to me like the guy that sold you the wheels doesn't know WTF he is talking about. If possible see if you can get your money back and run as fast as you can to a reputable wheel guy. But that's just me.
