Painting my brake calipers

The calipers on my 2.7 had been painted red by the previous owner but more of a matt finish with a black rectangle with PORSCHE in white in the middle. Ther were looking a little tardy so I decided to repaint them.

My car is Speed Yellow and I thought of painting the yellow to match the car but after looking at other on this forum I decided to go for red, much like the S as I like the contrast of the yellow & red.

I will post a brief outline of what I did.

1. Firstly i purchased a can of red caliper paint from a local auto shop. Superchaep for those Aussies. About $16 I think. I also ordered a set of caliper decals from www.xenonmods.com a US based site. $8 US or about $11 Aus plus $1 US for postage.

2. Jack the car up and remove the wheel.

3. Give t6he cailpers a good clean. I used metho to remove any oil etc.

4. Remove the pads and mask the caliper, bleeder boot, disk and wheel bay.

5. Paint cailper with about 6 -7 coast of red, letteing each dry pefore applying the next to avoid paint running.

6. I let the cure for a few days on the card before applying the decals, so replace pads and wheels.

7. After a few days or when I got around to it, I removed the wheels and gave the calipers a bit of a wife to remove any dirt.

8. Apply decals as per standard S calipers.

9. I actually gave the calipers a few coats of clear, more to protect the decals than anything so I don't blast them off when I pressure wash the wheels.

10. Wheels back on and your done.

I'm reasonably happy with the outsome, time will tell how well the wear. I will attach a few pics for those interested.
