The only way I could conceive a dealer charging that much would be for a car with PCCBs.

On your Boxster, expect front pads between $100-$180, and due to them being Brembo's, you can swap pads extremely quickly and easily, or pay a shop an hour's time to do it for you. If you need rotors as well, tack on another $250 roughly.

Front rotors, pads, fluid flush, and labor should be under $600, even at the dealer.
