ok, WARNING BIG EXPLANATION AHEAD
Here is my diagram of the snorkel and a summery of what happens when you remove it. To set the
MYTH straight, You do not "remove" the snorkel, you
"BREAK" it out. Sorry for all those who were hoping other wise. Now if you will look at my fancy diagram of the Snorkel you will see a few things. The White area is the Snorkel, duh. The Gray area represents the area the Snorkel "sticks" out of. The Blue represents the air flow into the airbox, and the Red thingy is the topic of conversation. This "Red Piece" is what breaks off when you pull the Snorkel straight out. This small piece of plastic is the
ONLY thing securing it in place. It is too small to glue back, if you recover it. I did, but I threw it away. The Snorkel does not screw in any way, and I see no need to twist or torque on it to remove it. Now this is not to say that you can not "replace" it after you have removed it. The Snorkel fits securely back into place, just stick it in the hole. The downside is that there is not a "Lock" to make sure it stays there. I just say: use some Super Glue
. I have also included some more photos for those who have never seen a Snorkel. Hope this Helps, Cheers!
