What happened when I first registered was the same as you. I even tried AOL addresses and the same things happened.
Then I waited a few months and tried again and my original email address (hotmail) worked and I was allowed to register.
Perhaps there is just a waiting period...
I feel out of place there because everyone seems to know each other personally
But I still enjoy the forums.
