Well, I found out that the first gear rattle at low RPM's in my 97 is a broken tooth in the 1st gear flywheel. I need to replace the tranny.

Local authorized porsche shop said it would be 2,000 minimum to replace the flywheel and clutch while they're at it.

Dealer want $3,800 for a rebuilt tranny installed, but said they'd install any transmission I brought in or shipped to them.

Oklahoma Foriegn wants 2200 plus a core exchange for a used one (not rebuilt) 45K miles on it.

LA Dismantlers wants 1500.00 plus a core exchange for a used one (not rebuilt) 32k miles on it.

Anyone know where I can buy a 5 speed for a 1997 that I can be assured will work trouble free? How much?

Somebody point me in the right direction.
