Know your enemy

I went for a drive this weekend with one of my best friends and his beautiful Mercedes Benz SLK 32 AMG.

349hp and 0-60 in 4.8s

This is a pretty rare car. His is the only one registered in the St. Louis area. The DMV had to make a special entry in the computer because no one had ever registered one before.

So next time you pull up next to a SLK 320/230, make sure it doenst have the AMG badge on the back. If it does, watch out!

Thumbs up The 2005 is looking even better!

Always loved that retractable hardtop but wasn't too fond of the rest of the car. That could change real fast now!

Wow, I like the new benz. To me it definately looks like it took some stying cues from the Mclaren benz. It's too bad it's not a stick. I guess mercedes thinks that making the driver shift while talking on the phone and drinking a cappaccino would be too much work.

Looks better than the current baby benz which looks like someone took a cleaver to the rear of the car. Probably only comes with an automatic transmission. I still think that the boxster will outdrive and outhandle the pants off the Benz. Sure there are plenty of cars out there with more hp etc than the Boxster but they do not handle like a Boxster.

Of course I agree with you about the Boxster out driving the SLK. I bought the Boxster

I drove my friend to the dealer to pick up the car and I asked the salesman why you can't get a manual trans in these cars and he basically told me that they believe that their auto is a better driver than you. Im not so sure about that, but there is no question that a manual is just more fun to drive. My friend never learned to drive stick and I wasn’t about to teach him on my Boxster so this was a good solution for him.

IMHO it is a crime as a guy not to have learned to drive a stick/manual transmission.

It was a KFC There wasn’t really too much in the little town we stopped at for lunch and I kept thinking some local was going to give us a hard time about "Them little fancy europeeaaan cars."

That pickup truck in the background had a sticker on the front windshield that said "If its too loud, your to old.” I wonder how long that guy has been driving around with a typo on his windshield?
