Bumper :) before and after

I just spray painted my bumper, looking hot




I'm goint to take out the "Boxster" emblem next time and leave "Porsche" ones. I got the emblem from my 944 )

I don't care if my License plate is showned. I will put a whole in your head if you touch my car.

were they easy to remove?, how many coats of paint?, what type of paint , did you use..??

Yeah, they are really easy to remove. You need an allen wrench and the bolts are underneath the bumper. I used 2 coats of primer and 3 sets of Arctic silver spray paint. It cost me $2.00 bucks

I agree, painted bumperettes look MUCH better than the black (unless you have a black Boxster). I shaved my emblem too. Makes it easier to wash/wax.

REdman, did you sand the bumperette first? Did you use a clear coat yet?
bumperplugs.com charge a nice chunk of change for this.
I agree its look much much better but parking on the street here in NYC is out of the question if I do this.

Where do you buy Arctic Silver Spray paint? I want to do this as well. Perfectlap, if it really is an easy DIY job then ieven if your bumps get banged up in NY, you can just redo them yourself. I can't justify paying somehting like $400 for them at bumperettes.

Hey guys, the rear bumperrettes are to stop 'soft' rear end collisions correct? Since the engine is in the back .. that makes sense.

Two questions though:

1. when you take off those bumperettes, is there just a metal 'tube' there?
2. is it possible to 'cut' those tubes (assuming a qualified metal shop does it) and just not have the bumperettes at all? Ofcourse you would need to 'patch' the rear bumpers, but it should be quite easy to do since its a flat surface.

Anyone done this before?

I have a white car and those black things are definately an eye sore.

Hi,

I removed mine myself, the bumperettes are held on by metal brackets riveted into the rear bumper. Just drill out the rivits and your done. I had a brand new bumper put on that didnt have the cut outs so it worked out perfectly.
