New Rims
I just got them today and they are going on tomorrow. What do ya think? 235/35 up front and 275/30 rear. They are 19's by the way. Oh ya, kronix, send me pics with your center caps.

What tiresand wheels are those?
Dont know, highline maybe, but the model is hero. With general exclaim uhp's. I got them from dtmautowerkes. There is another thread I started about them a couple weeks ago.
This look like OZ wheels. Do you have the weight estimate for each wheel?
It is like 22 up front, 25 rear. I am no scientist, but if a 21 pound 17 is a light weight rim, these must be fairly good and not lumps of lead.
sweeeet.
put the 275 on the rear, i was told that the 265 would be stretching it onto a 10.5 inch rim. hey have you lowered the boxster. i lowered my car with 1.3 inch H&R springs and the car is amazing, not bumpy or too low at all. think about it, the rims look totally different on the car with a 1 inch drop....trust me. take your porsche crests, and on the back bend the plastic clips in wards, a little. stick it into the middle and they fit snug. i then got some cement glue, not really cement, but home depot glue. and just put three touches of glue around the clips on the inside of the wheel. i'll go outside to my work parking lot right now and take a picture of the wheel center cap....if this helps show you what it might look like. |
notice how the cap sticks out about 1cm, really not a big deal. you can't see it the gap at all. they actually end up matching really good in colour. looks part of the rim. lots of people ask if they were stock.....
i meant people ask if they are stock rims............................
Looks awesome, Kronix. Could you post a larger (zoom out) pic of your wheel? I want to see how it looks like with your boxs.
They are on now. I will post some pictures in a little bit. No, its not lowered...yet. I want the ROW kit, maybe christmas. I was thinking of doing my crests like that, but I tried it last night and I am not sure it looks all that great. I might get some aluminum sheet or something and cut circles to fit the hole and screw them on and put a porsche sticker on that. I will mess around with it. Ya, I got the 275's. Did your car vibrate a little right after you got them on? Because with all this talk of the tires being the cause, I dont know if I should call tirerack today or wait a couple hundred miles.
I would reccommend 285 in the rears. 275s stretch on a 10" wheel so its gonna stretch even more on 10.5". I run 285/30/18 on my 10" in the back with no problems
well that sucks he already bought the 275, but shouldnt be a problem. i didnt know that they had to stretch the 275 on a 10.5. but i would trust that you are right. i personally dont understand this stretching business......
i had a bit of vibration, do an alignment, and get them to set the camber/toe. apparently mine was completly out of whack. meaning that i had no camber or toe set. but my car was also lowered 1 inch, so they had to adjust the toe/camber. I also don't have too much knowledge about camber and toe other then in my honda i did not do this and i was going throught a new set of tires every year...lowered 2 1/2 inches though. the other thing with this vibration issue......somedays i get a little bit of vibration and somedays i dont.....very minimal. check the warranty, drive a little on them, and it should go away. i know i havent felt any vibration lately. |
Hey threpwood here is a pic......
Here are some pics. What do you think? I will wait untill next week if I get an alignment, give it a chance to even out.

KronixSPeed,
Your car looks like $100K, must be the GT3 side skirts :D Bogtown I predict allot more stares, have you considered painting the calipers red? |
SERIOUSLY, what's up with the amber?!? That should have been removed on week 1. You're killing me smalls.
The rims look great, but I can't focus on them because my eyes keep going to the sidemarkers and tail lights! You're car is SO close to bad ACE! |
Yes red calipers, already have the paint. And about the ambers... I would like to, but the only thing I can afford is the side markers, and that wouldnt make that big of a difference. The headlights are like $700(and thats cheap) and I just dont have the resources as I will be entering college in a couple weeks. I would love litronics, with clear corners, with the special edition spyder tail lamps (all red). Maybe someday...
your car looks sweeeeeeeet! your rims made a big difference.
I have the same dilema as you have....i need to save up money too to de-amber my ride! I gotta paint my calipers red also, how are gonna do it anyway? i have heard horror stories of the paint chipping/coming off the caliper! Anyway cool ride my man! Good job! |
Very nice
Chrome wheels on deep blue boxs are sweet! Quote:
I have painted calipers before and the mian thing is to clean everywhere you want to paint, lol. But overall, I think I might rough the surface of the caliper with a small wire brush just to help more.
