Fine tuning ;)

The narrower it is the easier it is. I'll tape out 15 and 16 to see how it looks. Thanks for the help.

...all that wonderful built work for nothing, well, not quite
It will be quite some work to trim it down (did trim it a bit already to fit, but it still needs more), but I have a feeling it might look quite convincing....Needs a 2.7 badge when done, lol
It has not QUITE the perfect curve, but it is good enough.

JBauer 03-04-2018 08:56 AM

That's going to look really great 👌

hahaha...now that would take it to the next level! But a (fully) functional spoiler is way beyond may capabilities. :D
Nevertheless that would look awesome and create down force to boot.

dremel is your best friend...but trimming hard plastic still sucks
and there is a lot to trim on the backside to make it sit flush.
I will smoothen and round the edges a bit for the old school look.

I will make it work, I have that confident Feeling :D

JBauer 03-07-2018 07:41 PM

So your going to use both?

no no, it will be just the 911 grill, the old grill is a (place)holder for the moment...but somehow I do like the chrome shimmering through it.

BRAN 03-09-2018 04:57 AM

will put that on my to-do-list:

Not sure, if the amber will be bright enough to shine through that green
Not sure, how to color it. Are there shops, who could customize dials or is that an easy DIY?

Would be nice to have someone "process" my design with proper equipment. We will see, but thanks anyways TRK.

Just got a mega deal for a 981 brake light...new ones are already pretty cheap. If it it possible to install it, perfect...if not...no loss. I really dislike the cheapo brake light they gave us with the TOP.

a little detail arrived, but not quite sure, how they attached it though...

weighs around 0.75kg, less than I thought

Probably molded with the plastic. I had an Audi with a similar emblem on the grill that I thought would be easy enough to remove....nope. I had Dremmel in hand ready to cut it off, and I stopped myself fearing the outcome would be worse than the badge.

well, it fits perfectly on top and sits like on rails (due to top/bottom grooves). It is probably glued on with PU adhesive.

BRAN 03-14-2018 09:03 AM

wow...the rear window of the 981 must be much wider, the 981 3rd brake light "JUST" fits the Z-Top rear window, although it does not match the curve.
But it would be possible to attach it, it is just a matter of the LEDs visibillty and glare.
