GAHH Top w/glass window Installed

Here are some pics of my GAHH top installed 2 weeks ago..looks good, works perfectly..bought the rear defrost cable (cable loom) from dealer which plugs into both sides of the glass connector, although GAHH states they are manufacturing their own cable. Cable loom cost from Sunset was about $120 which lists for $160.

Looks great! Any disadvantage to having a smaller rear vision. Is that top lined as well and as quiet as the origonal?

docdyh 04-16-2006 05:34 AM

the original lining was used. noise level seems comparable..as to the smaller window, the original plastic still had blind spots so I always do a head turn anyhow..no noticebale visibilility differences at least for me..

How about your velcro straps coming loose like others are describing?

docdyh 04-16-2006 07:38 AM

not a problem......

docdyh 04-16-2006 01:29 PM

$850 for top (private sale, shipped directly from GAHH), installation $750 (cheaper shops available but went with highly recommended shop), cable loom for rear defrost $130-two day installation.

RandallNeighbour 04-16-2006 04:20 PM

$1730... yikes!

docdyh 04-16-2006 05:00 PM

Yes, a bit pricey but love the top compared to that plastic window!

Perfectlap 04-17-2006 09:12 AM

two days?
Running the cable shouldn't have taken an extra day. Well I could be wrong.
But installing the top is definitely not an all day job for a pro.
How many hours did they say it would take?

The cheapest I've ever heard is $300 and I think Cabrio World here in NJ sells the top for about $950.

docdyh 04-17-2006 12:00 PM

it was a four to five hour install..they were doing my top in between dealer work as a favor..the cable I installed myself..simply plug and play...

Perfectlap 04-18-2006 10:46 AM

the replacement canvas looks like a better quality than OEM. Like a thicker fabric.
Or is it the picture playing games with me?

docdyh 04-18-2006 03:43 PM

It does look thicker but not sure it actually is..both OEM and replacement refer to it as "German" fabric...

Just curious. The list price on their website seems to be $1042. How did you get it for $850? Thanks!

Have they done anything about getting the top into the service position?

docdyh 04-20-2006 03:55 AM

just had my box in to the dealer for an oil change...they said nothing about difficulty getting it into the service position...sorry ,no pics though.

docdyh 04-20-2006 03:57 AM

as to the $850 price, I got lucky..i bought it off someone on ebay who just sold her box after ordering from GAHH..they shipped her top directly to me...she infact paid $1045 according to the invoice they sent me..

I think that's all accessed from the bottom of the car.

docdyh 04-20-2006 12:17 PM

really ?, did not know that....

Yeah, oil change doens't require going to the top of the car at all. The oil filter and the drain plug are both at the bottom of the car. There's nothing else to do other then that. You fill the oil through the trunk.
