It is a handful but since it doesn't have an LSD it isn't too bad. Just spins the inside tire a good bit but still motivates down the road surprisingly well even spinning the tire into 4th gear :D Well the weather here this weekend was pretty freaking sweet, unfortunately today it has taken a major crap but oh well, not much I can do about it. Guess now is a good time to start doing some other things on it... The new axles feel great and the car has a much more solid feel now! I am still getting a strange shaking in the front end which it was doing before the conversion which is starting to drive me nuts. I'll try and get a video of it and see if any of you have experienced it before~ Just a few ticks under 2000 miles on the conversion and kicking ass! ~ Thanks J |
Did you ever put those axle spacers in?
I'm living vicariously through you at the moment. I still need to finish up the rats nest of a wire harness in my garage. I'm sooo close to being done, just need to find that final motivation to push on through! |
yeah axle spacers have been in and are working out just as expected! Have romped on the car several times in 2nd and even once or twice in first with no further issues from the axles. I say problem solved.

You are gonna like this... Sport exhaust day!!
Greetings everyone,
It has been a loooong week. Glad it is over! So I decided to celebrate and loosen up a bit. Well loosening up started this afternoon and I decided to go ahead and show my ass a bit and piss off the neighbors! Begin sport exhaust!! Total cost for materials - $130 Time spent on a Friday when I could have been at home - 2.5 hours Smiles for miles and miles and miles - PRICELESS. I'll need to do another in car video as it didn't turn out so well, but this will give you the idea  Video is almost done uploading and should be ready in a minute... Enjoy!! https://youtu.be/DxmPWBN74kc |
Sweeeeeeettttttt
May be the best thing you have done to the car since day one |
I'd like to see before and after dyno results.
|
John,
That car is a beast. I wonder if it would pass DriveClean e-testing here in Ontario. :D |
It is fun, that's for sure! I dunno if there would be much of a dyno difference but the sound is incredible :)
I'm not familiar with Ontario emissions laws but it passes Georgia emissions just fine! If anyone is interested and of course if the weather holds out i'll be bringing the car out to Caffeine and Octane car show in Atlanta tomorrow if anyone want to come check it out! |
For the record:
Drove it like this all weekend. Neighbors didn't seem to mind when I fired it up just after noon yesterday, drove by several and hardly got a second look. Did however get several looks pulling back into my hood last night while all the trick or treaters were out. Hopefully they were scared, it was Halloween after all :) Fired it up a little after 8AM Sunday morning, decided to let it roll down into the street before firing it up as to not piss the neighbors off too badly... Naturally the thing didn't fire up on the first crank and let out a backfire bang that probably would have rivaled my AR-15 :) OOPS. Fired it up and rolled out slowly, haven't had any complaints... yet~ On the way to the car show I took the backroads through the heart of East Cobb rather then the highway. This is not the yuppiest area around but pretty damn close. Well I totally forgot about the big church I had to drive by that ALWAYS had cops blocking traffic so people can cross the street and today was no exception... Well I decided to hold back a few car lengths from the car in front of me and was about 4th back in line, in the fast lane. Once they let traffic go the retreated to the inside of the road, right next to my lane... FABULOUS. Well I kept the revs as low as possible as I cruised by them but was still up to about 2K or so... played it cool and through out the thumbs up - AND TOTALLY GOT A THUMBS UP BACK!!! Got to the show and to say the least she drew quite a crowd so I ripped all the panels off and showed off my handy work. Quite a different reaction from a few months ago when I pulled in with the mufflers on!! I didn't have my camera rolling but saw a few out there so maybe something will show up on You Tube~ :) Drove home past the same cops @ the church - THUMBS UP AGAIN :p Conclusion: Is it too much ALL the time, YES. Would I do it again, YES. Will I make another exhaust system for it, YES. Will cops immediately pull you over for noise pollution, NO. (Verified 4x. Wasn't driving like an ass.) Does it sound so awesome that you forget you even have a radio in the car, YES. Can you order food at a drive through or talk on the phone while driving, NO. Oh and deceleration sounds like small arms fire :) |
That's awesome. I ran my car without mufflers for a bit, but the noise scared the crap out of me :) Too bad when the mufflers are on its a bit quiet. I gotta find something in between

Nice work indeed!

Thanks guys!
To be honest the more I've driven it. The more I like it. I'm gonna finish it up and think about building another in-between exhaust, but for now she will be good. My boss wanted to hear how it sounded when I left work yesterday, so I let it rip no holds barred stylee~ Left the light and made a quick shift into second, dropped the hammer at about 25mph~ She pounced like a tiger and started to slither around like a snake, quick shift to 3rd and she just keep on slithering! Traction control light lit up all the way through 3rd but motivating like a stabbed rat. It really is a joy to drive it. That said it has been an interesting week for me. While the car is definitely not "finished" it is certainly well sorted out and think it may be time to move onto the next project... I am going to be wrapping up some things on the LS Boxster and officially put it up for sale soon. I appreciate all of the feedback and kind words along the way, it kept me going. While I'm not certain what the next project is going to be yet, i'll definitely keep you all posted when I figure it out! Thanks~ J |

Go big or go home.
Greetings all,
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! Sorry for the lack of updates, been a bit busy lately and really the weather here has been so nice that I haven't wanted to stop driving it! Closing in on 3,000 miles on the conversion and after nursing my financial wounds for a bit I've decided to "go big or go home" and put the finishing touches on this beast. I actually bought a sweet set of 18" Fikse wheels for it, but unfortunately they don't fit so for now i'll be refinishing the factory wheels and getting some new rubber for them soon. I've got everything I need now to refresh the brakes, all new hardware, rotors, stainless steel lines and hawk HP plus pads should slow this beast down nicely Also just ordered a set or H&R coil overs... :) Will update soon! |
Brakes and suspension and powdercoat oh my.
Greetings all,
Well the weather finally turned to crap here in Georgia so the car has been on the rack for a bit getting some needed love... I made a small video which i'll try and upload later today or this weekend, but here is a taste of whats been going on... http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1452870778.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1452870796.jpg |

https://youtu.be/4rLHWoqs70k https://youtu.be/xkQDDV3aiGw Thanks J |
Holy cow, its amazing, I love it, I want one :)!!!!!!
|
Hi BoxsterLS376,
green calipers? So your car is a Porsche E-Hybrid? :D ;) Regards, Markus |
Well some kind of hybrid anyway!! Porsche-Chevy hybrid :p
Got the brakes and suspension set up pretty good, but the weather here sucks today so I doubt i'll get the car out at all until next week when it dries up. I need to redo a coolant line or two and possibly shorten up the down pipe on the passenger side for a bit more clearance, but nothing major. I'll try and get some pics/videos once the weather is more cooperative. Thanks! J |
