Arena Red Boxster Thread

Fellow owners, I have been looking at this site for some time, and do not see many owners of Arena Red (burgundy) Boxsters. I am starting to believe that this an unique colour.
Mine has the graphite grey full leather interior. I am interested to see what other interior colour options are out there.
If you have an Arena Red car, please post interior colour, and pictures if available. I am sure there are more of these colour cars out there than I am lead to believe.

The Arena Red Metallic paint option was only available on Boxsters from 1997 to 2000. I've seen several of them, and almost all of them had the Graphite Grey interior. Yours is the first I've seen with the full leather and wood trim options, and it looks quite nice indeed. :)

S&B's turbo front bumper cover also looks pretty sweet. It adds a more aggressive look to the first gen 986.

Here's some pics of mine:

Wow - mine certainly looks a lot lighter than others.
Interestingly, the body shop that did the bumper mentioned that they had to lighten up the color a bit when they were doing test spray-outs.
It's surprising because the car spends a majority of it's time in one garage or another.

Porsche is known for paint color variants between years but AR is also one of those colors which changes w/ the light. Here's my old one - AR/GG/GG:

One of the best colors ever of course :D

Would love to pick up a 993 in AR some day...

Nice! The Arena Red with the wood looks nice! I looked a triple black with same wood accents and it looked terrible...

Toppy986 07-29-2014 03:10 PM

so far 3 for black tops and 2 for grey, I really like the look of the black on the AR colour, I think I will change it up in a few years, my back window is pilling out at the threads.

I thought about starting this thread a while back but did not know how responsive other owners would be...Glad to see the nice examples thus far here is my contribution - Arena Red with Black interior.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1406698494.jpg

My 2000 Arena Red Boxster

This is my 2000 Arena Red Boxster with Savanna Beige interior. These photos are a couple of years old. I have since replaced the wheels and tires with 18" Cayman wheels and Hankook tires and also swapped out the seats with full leather 911 savanna beige seats.

I get a lot of compliments about the arena red color as it is rare.

cbbepop 08-03-2014 10:57 AM

that interior is a rare classy combination

BRAN 08-03-2014 12:46 PM

really, really nice color!
IMO much nicer than the '14 Carmine red

Arena Red

Thanks cbbepop and BRAN.

Picked up my Arena Red Boxster from the detailer today after a full detail with paint correction.

The car has always cleaned up well, but I could see light swirls and scratches in the paint, and it was driving me nuts. Well, they're all gone now, and the finished result is fantastic. The pics don't do the paint correction justice.

No more scratches!

Brand new from the dealership :D

Looks great TO!

TeamOxford 08-07-2014 01:44 PM

Thanks BRAN and Bruce. She sure looks good, but not showroom good. After all, she'll be 16 years old in a few months, but she definitely doesn't show her age.

I can't seem to take the "glamour shots" of the car that some forum members are able to do. Maybe it's my camera; most probably my lack of photo skills.

Alfieg23 08-07-2014 02:31 PM

Congratulations TO, she looks great! What about paint chips on the front bumper and hood? If you had any, were they able to correct them?

TeamOxford 08-07-2014 02:44 PM

They used touch-up paint (customer supplied) on the chips, so that part is a 10 footer at best. Buffing did nothing. With rock chips, if you want a perfect finish, you literally have to strip and respray the entire panel. Then protect it with a clearcoat film to avoid future chips.

Scarlett is no garage queen; she's my DD and I track her. Not for much longer; she's getting a little long in the tooth. Regardless, I'm willing to accept some imperfections, as she's not an investment, she's my car.
