My 2001 Lapis Blue Boxster S

Hi,

here is my new Boxster and I am delighted with it :).........just a quick phone pic for now.

After a 250 mile drive home she seems to be a very clean, well sorted car.

Only issue I can see is that the gear change is not as slick as the Mazda RX8 I have had for the last 3 years.......is there adjustment in the linkages?

John

Congrats on the purchase!! I just got my '01 Boxster S about 2 weeks ago. Have put only about 150 miles on her as of yet but really loving it! ENJOY!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Outstanding color choice;) I have no issues with gear changes, you may try a fluid change.

Not sure how your shift feels, but compared to all of the cars ive ever driven, when you shift you're very 'aware' that its a cable linkage, its a firm play in it.

I will say I drove many, MANY Boxsters over my 18 month search and so, so many of them shifted like crap - even a 2005 S that I drove with only 30k....when I got in the 2000S I ended up with - she shifted like a dream. Very precise, very pointed - and I drove a Miata for 10 years (arguably one of the best shifting cars out there).

How many miles on this girl? I found the older ones don't age gracefully in this area :(

76,000 with full main dealer history.
think it is just me and the different linkage feel.

I have to say it is beautiful to drive.......full of torque so able to pull high gears when needed and boy can she shift when you use some revs.

Had a chance to give her a good clean now...........paint looks to be original which for a 13 year old car is unusual.....a few stone chips but that is to be expected. I removed the Boxster S badge as it was damaged......quite like the clean look

Air con is not cold...........possibly condensers as an invoice from 2011 noted that both were leaking but there is no paperwork to say they were done....hope they have!

bought a Chinese double din sat nav for it, cherished plate is being transferred......we plan on a full service before taking it to Monaco and back home through the Alps for our Summer holiday :)

A couple more photos.

Chalk another one up for the Lapis Blue Boxster S! Just picked up my new-to-me '02 on Thursday, and am loving it more and more every day. This car has exceeded all expectations -- I'm constantly looking for excuses to drive it!
