Boxster with Cayman hardtop

Hi all

After several weeks, I decided to go for the Cayman hardtop on my boxster
(in the past the so called Zeintop)
A factory 70 miles from my hometown already finished mine

Here are some pictures, I cant wait till the top is ready

Bye!

Lucky duck :D

Congratulations and Good luck!

Would be cool, if a few more would be floating around...
Was it a complete TOP or do you still need to invest a lot of money/work?

Wow! That looks just like the Cayman

We need details...

Hi all

The hardtop is made in a company in the northern part of the Netherlands.
The hardtop is for sale without all the accessories ( glass, fittings, rubbers, stop/brakelight), and without painting and putting the top on your boxster.
BUT, if you pay for it (of course), the company is willing to do the whole process mentioned above, so including painting and putting the top on your car.

I choosed the last option.
Within one week the top will be finished, I will post more pictures for you!

jeffm 03-29-2014 04:48 AM

Cannot wait to see it finished!

BRAN 03-30-2014 04:06 AM

We definately need more details (maybe a website link?) ;)

I do like that cayman look A LOT, but I am convinced a "smaller" solution would do it, too (designwise --> d-morris TOP looks somehow too bulky)
Kinda like that:

I've been looking everywhere for the zeintop think they stopped selling the Cayman top or was out of business. ... I need this :(

The Radium King 03-30-2014 02:52 PM

bran - that image is just a zeintop with the rear hatch removed and the oem trunk in place. the dmoris top is bulky at the back - it appears to be designed to sit on top of the tonneau cover (as opposed to the zeintop which removes the tonneau cover). mr zeintop ws quite the shady character; it would be nice if someone else stared making the top.

ducati11 03-30-2014 10:25 PM

MH in a village called Peize in the Netherlands!!!!!!

The company has its own website

Now back to work, so more details will be following!:):):)

BRAN 04-02-2014 08:59 AM

Nice and not too far away.

As far as I can see, they have a company history and sell other Porsche parts, too.
Can't wait for a few more pics.
Maybe how the inside looks (roofliner, fittings, rubbers, space between roof and roll bars)

Maybe they are even able to create a "light" version of it, without the rear hatch...only challenge i see is to find a "fitting" rear window.

Keep us updated, Ducati

That's gorgeous!! Congrats, I'd love for my 01 Boxster to look like that. Are there any options in the US for that?

Looks great, I love it!

The question is, what is the cost/price justification? Although I guess you could turn it back into a convertible, but would you ever do that? I would think the overall cost of the conversion would buy you an early Cayman and net you a newer car.

In the end, some just like a project and a unique car. Nice job.

Cheers

jeff - looks like a zeintop copy. if so, it attaches just like the oem hardtop and takes about as long to install/remove. the soft top stays in place, you just have to remove the tonneau cover (six bolts) and rear trunk lid (four bolts). ducati - watch where the inner and outer shells meet along the bottom edge - the flexing of the car while attached can cause these to separate.

looks fantastic - they look best on arctic silver I think.

ducati11 04-03-2014 07:57 AM

To be honoust, the Cayman bottom price for a used car in the Netherlands is about 25.000 euro. Excluding the costs for optimizing minor defects

The difference (cheaper option) between my boxster including the new hardtop is still more or less 10.000 euro in my favour.
Besides that, I know my boxster is technically okay, what about buying another Cayman without being very sure the car is technically okay (in spite of an examination by a Porsche specialist).

The costs of the hardtop is about 2500 Euro, excluding glass, rubber, locks, brakelight painting, placing the top. In fact these items are not necessary, if you want these things to do it yourself....
The "rough"top is in stock, but just a small numbers. I really dont know if he/the customer is willing to ship the top. Everything has its price of course.
On my request, the inside was painted black without carpeting. And it really looks awesome

If you have more questions, of course I wanna help you as good as I can

greetings John

And last but not least, having a softtop including a very nice hardtop....for me it's best of both worlds

Bye for now

BRAN 04-03-2014 10:28 AM

Have fun with your fantastic looking "Hybrid", congratulations!

Would be great to see some pics of the fittings, locks and inner shell, too.

ducati11 04-03-2014 12:05 PM

Tomorrow, I will post pictures with the perfect fittings, locks and inner shell.
On my request the "inner"roof is black without covering/layer.

I thinks its awesome!
