New Headers & Sport Cats :-)
I purchased new headers & sport cats from FVD. I have no time to install them for a week or two, but I can't wait :-)

Jay,
After you install the headers, you need to capture some audio and post for us to drule over..... |
I hope to have everything installed within a couple weeks or so... I'll keep you all updated!
PorscheBoy(Jay) |
Did you install the headers?
Hope you can post some video or sound clips. |
I will have the car back early Dec. I will be putting on the dyno, taking some video, and ofcourse keeping you updated :-)
PorscheBoy (Jay) It will be a little more than stock then... 3.2L S engine, FVD headers, FVD sport cats, Evo cone intake, S-car-go enlarged throttle body, Porsche Tequipment Sport Exhaust, and FVD ECU tuning... |
I'm looking at getting the FVD headers and 100 cell cats. Still looking over intakes and it looks like I might go with EVO high air intake. I got an email from Scargo stating that they no longer sell the larger throttle body for the boxster.

I'm also interested in getting a new air intake for my 01 S, I;'ve not done much research but all out there look like they would be better than my OEM. Whats the feed back from those that have installed various systems? Are they happy with their decision and would they do it again.?

Hey Larry,
Great to hear from you... As far as the intake on the boxster /boxster s goes... They are specifically designed for noise reduction and debris catching... Which for Joe Average is great! If I had to recommend an air intake, I would suggest an Evo intake or an FVD, possibly TTP (TTP and FVD are a bit more expensive)... If a stock boxster owner wanted a suggestion on two upgrades, I would suggest the intake and a B&M short throw shifter (manual transmission)... Both of these made the most dramatic difference to me out of all upgrades (for the $$$)... I hope I helped! PorscheBoy (Jay) |
To to Rothbauer_Racing,
Sounds like you are going to have one hot car... Was any reason given from S-car-go about the throttle body? Not to worry though, I have seen a few other companies out there with the same product... If I find them again, I'll keep you updated! Good luck, Be safe, and enjoy that machine! PorscheBoy (Jay) |
PorscheBoy,
I did find out that Gemballa shows larger throttle bodies on there web site. I have emailed them requesting some prices for their parts and what type of HP gain will be on the 986S. I will keep all posted as info comes in... ciao, Stanislaus R.R. |
I've heard intakes are a pain to intall and foul up the MAS, any truth to that?
Porscheboy how did it go putting yours on?
|
I'd like to know more about the larger throttle body when you know more. I'm interested in putting 1 on my 01S.

AdamNillinois,
It is very true that a lot of people have problems installing the aftermarket intakes, and some have a problem with the MAF sensor fouling up... There are two separate versions available for the boxster and boxster s models from evo motorsports... I have owned both... "The Quickflow" is the basic model, I started with this type... It is a direct replacement to your stock intake tube... It does come with a sport air filter... When I used this type I also had some problems with my MAF... When the dealer looked at it he said that he thought oil had dripped off the newly installed air filter onto the MAF sensor... He replaced the MAF and I began using stock filters again, no problems since! I highly recommend this version!!! It is cheaper, easy to install, light on the problems... The next version is the "Highflow intake" this actually replaces the entire air box and intake tube to the throttle body... It also switches to the cone air filter... This intake is a lot harder to install, a little more expensive, but more bang for the buck... I also recommend this one for the advanced Porsche tuner. Both intakes are available from various stores or you can get more info at: http://www.evoms.com/porsche%20ec%20art%20test.htm Good Luck PorscheBoy (Jay) |
