I ordered them from the U.K. for about $90. The length was a little longer than needed but I recommend clay barring the door before applying. I did a wash but noticed some sediment must have been trapped in the car wax. I used a little exacto type knife from staples with a white handle used to open packages. It has a teeny plade point that was handy for getting the front wheel well edge of the decal which I wanted to wrap around the corner. I must have used to much water because the decals neeed careful removing in order to adhere. you have to be careful. I had to use a tiny bit of rubber cement to get ends to stick

Thanks for the info...

I've been thinking about doing this but wasn't sure until I saw your car. It actually works well on the 986 body styling.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I did a quick photoshop on my car... what do you think?

Cheers

Perfectlap and Mark,

I think the stripes look awesome! Will definitely turn some heads as these are pretty rare besides the standard issue limited spyders, and a few others.

i think I would do red stripe with the Cayman piece for the front bumper. with the 997 GT3 4.0 RS grey stripe down the hood that wraps around the hood crest, it has a thin red border. For the rear trunk I would do the same with the grey stripe coming down to your 986 badge or the Panamera "PORSCHE" badge in chrome finish.
on a white boxster I would also do a carbon wrap over the clamshell and mirrors. Mmm...maybe the klisstle (forum sponsor) roll hoop covers in white.

As good as the black stripes look I like the idea of different color stripes too. Saw this car at Cars and Coffee Charlotte and thought it looked good.

The night pic of your car looks fantastic! Looking forward to seeing your Carrera wheels with the black chrome finish (if that's what it is called).

Thanks for the Klisstle mention. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get someone to try a color other than body color. I mocked up this red set before installing my white body color matching set. I never really considered red for my car since I don't have any red other than the brakes and lights. I did however consider a grey to match my wheels.

I hope someone called the police and reported that front license plate catastrophe! That thing looks hideous. What an eye sore.

That blue decal is eye-catching but I think he should have done the PORSCHE lettering. It's very retro. Can't lose with decals either way. If you get tired of it...just peel it off. I love the way it makes the car look like its going fast even when parked.

That night shot was done with my cellphone camera. I have to hand it to the Boxster designers. for a soon to be 19 year old design, it looks as current as anything being made today. It just needs a few things to keep it fresh like the 997 Turbo wheels and aero. I love the way the light catches the skirting.

I think that a contrasting color for the roll hoops would work on a black or grey Boxster. But on a color like white or yellow, keeping it body color gives a great visual punch.
Everytime I see your ad I kick myself because I've had to repaint the front bumper twice and I keep putting off ordering a set. What a dummy. Those hoops really transform the top down look of the rear. The car looks unfinished without it.

Nice Photoshop. Can you put "spyder" in there?
