Hello everyone! I'm new and need help please!
Hello everyone
I'm riding my 2.7 01 with stock 17", it's so fine. Planning to buy new shoes for her. Many friends up here said 18" is the best fit for 986 but I'm still in love with the look of 19"..... So my questions are... 1. Do I have to lower it? (both 18" and 19") 2. I know 19" offers harder ride, but "Is it that hard driving with 19?" 3. Is it worth sacrificing the smooth ride to the look of 19" P.S. Cost is acceptable to me... Please Tor BKK |
im in the same boat. I have been looking for new shoes now for over three months. Lowering it is about an inch and will look a lot better on 18's or 19's. I have looked at both as far as ride an i would be ok either way. my problem is just finding the right wheel

Had 18s with H&R race springs ride was decent...upgraded now to 19s and yeah alil rougher but still not bad. Def the 19s look the best with a drop...18s with drop to me looked small. So with that said I would go 19s WITH a drop!

I personally prefer 18 inch. They are lighter. Theoretically, putting 19's on should hurt it the perfomrance a little. They are bumpier, but not that much. I don't think you would notice much of a difference.

Thanks to all posts ;)
Hello everyone, thanks you very much for your post!
My another question is it possible to put 11" wide to the rear? BTW, My friend is driving MINI Cooper R50 (Y 2003) and he'd replaced it's stock 15" with 18".... the ride is terrible....... I can feel every small roughness of the road :( ....... this thing really keeps my mind spinning if my 986 will turn that bad with 19"....Is it that bad? Anyone has an experience or what do you think? Thanks Tor |
Depending on the size of the tire that you are using, the difference in "cushion" (i.e. sidewall thickness) between 18's and 19's can be negligible . Also, depending on the tire's composition, there can be a noticeable difference in ride quality - that isn't necessarily based on size alone . For example, my oem 18's fitted with Pirelli P-Zero Corsas were enough to knock your dental work out as compared to the current 19's that I am running . Lastly, there is no way an 11 inch wheel will fit on a 986 boxster .
