Sorry, been on the board for a few weeks and forgot to post some pics of my 1999 Boxster 2.5L base. Silver with black interior. Painted calipers. Tinted side windows.

On vacation this week so I installed an AUX audio input and a rear speaker kit along with new 225/45/17F and 255/40/17R Pirelli PS2's installed today (pics show the stock PZR's that were on the car).

Next projects are coolant flush and brake fluid upgrade.

Hoping to take it up to the Streets of Willow in Feb/March and see how it drives.

What size wheels are those? And what brand and size tires? The 2000 S I bought a couple weeks ago has 18" wheels and I'm considering going to a smaller size. Something with a taller sidewall and more compliance. Are you happy with the way your car steers and rides?

The tires in the pics are stock 17" Turbo II wheels with 205/50/17 front and 255/40/17 rear Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires.

As I mentioned, they have since been replaced with slightly wider fronts (225/45/17) and stock rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) tire's (typo said Pirelli PS2 in my original post - sorry!).

The PZero Rosso's (PZR's) were fine but the Michelin PS2's have much more grip (dry or wet) and ride quieter.

I am perfectly happy with the steering and how they ride. The steering is firm and quick to turn in and the ride is a good medium between being too soft and too harsh. My car is a daily driver so I need something that I can live with everyday.

Your S-model has a firmer suspension to start and then with the lower profile 18" tires, the ride can seem a little harsh to some people.

Nice I always been fond of the racing stripe, too bad my boxster is black and i don't like the white stripe version

Stripes
 

The 70's stripe looks much better on black/dark color cars. It is a "negative" style stripe and the letters are formed by the missing parts of the stripe so they are in body color ( black), legible, and not harsh looking. They are available in colors other than black or white. I am considering a medium shade metallic grey 70's stripe on my lapiz blue metallic Boxster S. I will try to post a photo example of the stripe I am talking about.

Rear speakers
 

What rear speaker kit did you install? I changed out the head unit since we no longer actually play CDs, and that improved the sound somewhat, but sound from the rear is definately missing.

Did you install the aux jack on the stock radio? if so can you share how you did it?
also are the red calipers covers or actual red cailpers?

Where can i get a pair of "Porsche" Stripes? Dealer cost is over $500.00! Is that where ya'll are getting them from? Thanks!

The cable that I bought was the BLAU-8 audio adapter from www.discountcarstereo.com. On the end of the BLAU-8 you can get an AUX input or an iPod cable input connector. See http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=993

I installed the aux jack into the stock CDR-220 radio. Very easy. Pull the radio using the $3.99 radio tool and the aux cable plugs into the connector for the CD changer on the back of the radio. Then I ran it down the backside of the center console and drilled a small hole in the rear of the storage cubby. So my music player and cable are nice and safe from rolling around in the lower cubby.

Yes, the calipers are really painted red. I recently changed the front brakes rotors to the drilled type and they look really great (and perform really well too).

The rear speaker kit that I installed was the PNP kit from Harvey on eBay. It won't transform the stock stereo to concert hall performance but it does improve the sound quite a bit. Be sure and buy some cheap polyester matting from a fabric store and use it to fill the air chamber behind the speakers to get a little better bass response.

Also, ignore the instructions and don't spend a huge amount of time running the cable down the sill of the passenger door and under the passenger side of the dash to get to the radio. Just run the cable behind the passenger seat and tuck it between the carpet and the engine cover carpet with your fingers. Then do the same and run the cable up the passenger side of the center console and push the cable up under the console and the carpet with your fingers. Then run the cable up the back of the center console. Much, much faster and easier.
