997 Carrera alloys on a 986...

Will go :)

This is my road set up (I use a set of 17's for track work) and these have a 25mm spacer on the front and a 22mm on the rear. Only just got them on today as I've re-furbed my brake calipers as well.
Will post more tomorrow.

That set up looks really nice!

Your track set up is my daily, I use spacers 7/14 f/r, do you use spacers for track?

Later,
Andy

just a 7mm shim at the front - it's needed on a 987 wheel to clear the caliper.

For anyone else doing this, please keep in mind that the tire sizes for 986 and 987 are different - 987 tires are thicker.

265/35/18 rear for 986
265/40/18 rear for 987

Your speedo will be off as a result.

Yup - c.4% faster.
I'll keep the tyres for the time being because they're too good to trash and also
taking into account that the 997 set up will mean you're travelling 2.5mph faster than an indicated 60mph.
However, at 60mph your true speed is around 5% less, so by accident, I have a pretty accurate speedo till I change to 986 sized tyres.

Is my logic sound?

Yeah, the speedo over reads as standard so if anything it will be closer to dead on accurate with the larger rolling radius.

Got any more images to give us a better idea what they look like on a 986? Thanks.
