gear shift alert

I bought a 2005 Boxter, manual shift, when I start out in first or second gear I get a desplay which has a circled 30 and an alert sound to shift toa higher gear. Has anyone heard of this and can it be disengaged?

Basically the gear shift indicator.Which is to be fitted to the ECOnetic models of the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo, is designed to indicate to a driver when the optimum moment to change gear is, thereby allowing for more fuel-efficient changes.
