is this an oem front lip? or part of the bumper
Just recently purchased my 00 boxster a few days ago
my 986 is white so i dont see this distinct shadow in the bumper nd sideskirts like this one. http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...9d7da6957a.jpg is that a oem front lip ? nd oem sideskirts? also what year is that boxster? thanks |
The front bumper and side skirts were part of a factory option commonly referred to as the Aero Kit 1. I believe the actual package according to the "build sheet"was referred to as the XXA option. This option was later replaced by the Aero Kit II. The price for this option was approximately $6.500. Last I knew, the side skirts were still being produced by Porsche as part of their Tequipment line-up. However, I don't believe that the front bumper is still available.

Thanks that cleared up a lot of questions for me. And looking twice at my bumper i guess i do have the same one :) how can you tell the difference between kit I nd kit II?

Here's some photos of the aero kit II. It essentially borrows from the 996 Gt3 look. You can purchase these oem parts from numerous sources at prices far less than a Porsche dealer.

just to double check, here is a pic of my front bumper. is this an AERO KIT I ? http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4497/img0891a.jpg edit: wait this isnt simliar to the black one i see below since the 2 air vents are a lot thinner... wtf kinda bumper do i have...? |
Your vehicle has the standard oem 986 boxster S bumper. However, the "surround" on the middle air intake appears to be black or unpainted.

Hi, that bumber looks from an 996 side skirt could be OEM and approx. model 2002 with european side markers.
