Great photos, classic lines, I sure am a fan of the 986 body, less so with the 987,

i noticed that the later models have a different side vent..

is there a place to get this? cause our old ones... are deeper... the newer ones like the one below are more out and flushed to the body...

are there any aftermarket side vents worth looking into?

Zeintec has some. I don't care for them, but some really like them.

if you are crafty and good with body work you could probably fit OEM cayman onces yourself. there are the zeintec but they are pretty cheesy IMHO and there is a wide body kit for the boxster in which you can get the cay or 987 vents or even 997 turbo vents... which look **************** hot on the box.

i actually just want ones that are more flush against the body... so the car looks more streamlined and current

these are cool...

my mod wish list of mods that i wish they'd make

1. cheaper side vents like the one above
2. full headlight covers that make the headlights oval like the current instead of existing techart covers that leave 2 holes for the signals (i'd transfer signals to bumper vents via led)
3. some sorta cheaper plastic rear window repacement to glass
4. a rear diffuser like the current boxster

The later model 03+ 986 Boxster has the slats painted body color which makes them appear to be more flush with the body. You can do this yourself or have a shop do it for cheap. The vent housing comes out really easily, I believe it's just one screw on the inside top part. Then the slats separate as one piece from the vent housing.

I've thought of doing it a couple times but, I prefer that they just go away. And it matches my front Turbo bumper. :)

hi yelllow,

I don't think it's just the body color paint...

It appears the entire vent was changed in 03 up cars...

whereas the old ones were two piece vents (the surround...and the actual slats)

the newer ones are one piece vents that are actually flush with the car body...

anyone know where we can get these? apart from the stealership?

you could try a dismantler such as oklohoma foreign or LA dismantlers. there are some others but i forget.
