Boxilla Lives
Had this '97 Boxster that was beautiful. It's name was BOXILLA. TechArt wheels, splitters, winglet, steering wheel, B&B exhaust.
A woman gabbing on her cell phone rearended me at a stoplight without even braking. Destroyed all the sheet metal from the cowl back.
So I bought it back from the insurance company for next to nothing and built a just-have-fun-track car with a 917-ish fiberglass rear panel, carbon hood, center ducted radiator, diffuser and exhaust. Did all the fiberglass and metal fab myself. This took a year and a half. Next addition is a full cage.
Ready for test and tune at Willow and Auto Club Speedway.

It is TA knock-off that I bought off of eBay. It gave me huge intakes for the side radiators and one for the added center radiator.

I took this shot at the auto show at the Glenmoor Country Club (Canton, OH) a couple years back.

Odds are there are even more "Boxilla"s out there...

I think I saw Boxilla some years ago outside S D when you passed me in the left lane (hwy 5) honking at me. But I remember another color ,was it green? on the car.
Anyway, nice project!

Cool project, any idea about the downforce you are generation on the rear end? It looks like you have a lot of time into the project. Do you have a sense of how the weight of the rear end changed with the mods? Should be fun on the track,
Ed

Can't wait to get it on the track this coming weekend to see whether all of the aerodynamics, which are just educated guesses at this point, will pan out at really high speeds. I did drive it on the freeway on a one day moving permit from DMV. It felt like it was really hunkered down. Curves on the back side of Mount Palomar on SR 76 felt good too. Car felt balanced. Amazing fun!!!

Love the PCA people. Used to run in the PCA autocross at the stadium till I found Redline and Speed Ventures. Don't have to work corners! 5 half hour run sessions! Willow-Buttonwillow-Cal Speedway! You'd love it.

Finally got BOXILLA to the track at Fontana Auto Club Speedway on November 20th. No weirdness. Cornered great. It felt really planted at 130mph on the fast part of the Roval. Great fun!!!
