Here is my 01 986 S taking a much needed break...
Close to 60 degrees today (1/20/21)in Colorado... https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/2001...1_201_a-XL.jpg |
I purchased this 2001 S 10 years ago. It was like new then with the exception of the rag top, the rear plastic window showing all the signs of sun damage. This was replaced with a new top with a heated glass rear window.
About 6 weeks ago I purchased clear headlights to replace the "fried eggs". I was a little skeptical that it would really make a difference, but all I can now say is "wow". This encouraged me to swap out the amber repeaters for clear, and then this weekend I swapped out the amber tail lights for LED red/clear versions. I think the result is stunning, and heartedly recommend this conversation. https://i.postimg.cc/qBWc8NMN/Boxster1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/pLHD63jx/Boxster2.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/TYmVQTpC/Boxster3.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fbWYwX5r/Boxster4.jpg Right-hand drive as I am in Australia ... https://i.postimg.cc/fRfxn57d/Boxster5.jpg Regards from Perth Derek |

Thanks, it wasn't planned. Just an early morning mountain run last summer. No body around so pulled over and took a few pics on the phone.

I'm liking the orange monopola!
Is that a wrap or has it received a color change repaint? I often think the world would be a better place if the original Boxster had been available with all of the "fun" 914 colors. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1190996484.jpg |

Did the whole wash, clay, polish, wax thing and even used some of the new ceramic stuff. She's looking pretty good, don't you think?
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/7211632260869.jpg And - Hazel got to drive the Boxster for the first time! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1632260429.jpg Cheers- dj |

Looks great and Hazel will be driving it for real someday! I do the same regimen on my ‘03, although I’ve https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8ac064a44c.jpg gone back to carnuba after trying spray ceramic. IMO it’s more appropriate for a daily, and nothing pops like good ‘ol high quality wax. BTW, my car just passed 164k miles - drive, rinse repeat! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
2001 Boxster 2.7L
Fairly new to Boxster ownership. Been driving 911's since 1977. Still have a couple of air-cooled ones. Got to say ... these Boxsters sure do complement the Porsche DNA.
It would not surprise me if old 911 drivers admitted they enjoy the Boxsters as much if not more than the 911's. They are flat-out fun!!! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1635309401.jpg |

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0a73cc1c_b.jpg Stripped out, cut up, and on the third engine I've had in it. A collection of damaged parts and zip ties and one of my favorite cars. 'Xbox' after a day in the desert. |
What a beautiful beast

It was time for new tyres (tires) - Michelin Pilot Sport 4. I decided it was also time for new rims as well, and found some 17" BBS wheels from a Carrera which had been used perhaps once or twice. Period correct for the 986 S. (I know some convert to 18", but 17" offer a smoother ride and better handling).
https://i.postimg.cc/x0TLzqYb/a.jpg Also installed a new Alpine/Focal music system to replace the original Becker CDR220. What a difference! https://i.postimg.cc/FhvyhDBp/B6a.jpg Regards from Perth Derek |
