( Thanks, guys ! Ya'll responded faster than I could post ! ) blkboxster, you pay for the ticket, I'll be there in a heartbeat :D AUDIOGUY, I'll give that FK421 a try ! Nick |
Sorry Nicky... I meant FK 425...
Lost my head! Definately get some.... It smells kind of good also... like bubble gum. Just be sure to get a large microfiber towel and keep turning it frequently as you wipe off the spray. You will know within 2 minutes that this is the real deal! I owe it all to Perfectlap! |
Nick, great work. I know exactly what you're talking about. :)
I had to get FK 425 after perfectlap's praises and will try it soon. Z. |
I duno, finish looks a little cloudy in the last pic... ;)
I like the FK 425 too. I need to order more of that soon. |
Nothin like a nice clean black boxster! Is that fk stuff better than the zaino? Out here in cali, it gets hot and I noticed some waxes does not last especially on my black 986. they tend to melt or be a lint magnet. The only thing I don't like about the Zaino is that it is a long process to apply, almost a weekend process, but it definately worth it.

Nick:
Looks good! If you want to try the #425 before you buy it, let me know I bought a gallon, and you can swing by and try mine first. A little tip though...don't lay any of your rags on the ground...clean or dirty...you never know when you might pick-up a small stone or something else that can scratch the car...even after washing the rags. If I am working on the car, and drop a rag on the ground, I never use it again until it has been washed. |
Finish Kare (FK) actually claims their product to be antistatic, meaning it should not attract dust/lint as readily as most other products. The FK 425 specifically, is really just a detail spray, but in my experience it does leave a really nice shine. FK has a whole line of detailing products.

Nice job Nick! I too use Zaino products on my black 986 and yes, after I put her back in the garage,....definitely a magnet for dust and lint..etc. But the immediate results for a morning or afternoon ride is really worth it!!

Nice! i have the same license plate frame! I like how you can see the overcast reflect off your boxsters body.
|
Thanks again, everyone !
Bmuss, I’ll take you up on that offer. I love Zaino, but I would like to try 425 before shelling out the $$$ Don’t worry, though. Once the rag hit the ground, next stop is the washer ( never the car ! ) Regards, Nick |

zino has to be the fastes thing in the world to put on, and you dont get tired, and you also dont need to rub it in at all... i apply zaino on weekly bases to get a lot of layers in, its that easy. you sure u arent doing something wrong man? |
I think what he means about Zaino, some of their products have a 24 hour curing time before layering. Most sealants, waxes such as Poorboys, Klasse, Four Star you can layer after one hour.
Nice job Nick, mine is due for its first detail since I got it. Just waiting on the pollen season to end. I just ordered the FK 425. I've been using Clear Kote and Four Star. |

one day when I have a six car garage I will think about thinking about getting another black car :)
FK 425 goes over Zaino or whatever wax you choose. I think all high end waxes are rough 98% the same so I'm not that brand loyal. 425 is not meant to replace your favorite wax. The anti-static ingredients --sounds like a tv infomercial but this really is the only product that doesn't have an equivalent-- make 425 an LSP (last step product) to curtail your wax's dust/lint/pollen attraction. ANd of course the extra barrier makes whatever is underneath last a very long time. My fave part is what it does during rainfall, acts like a teflon coating, dirt runs down to the lower portions of the car so it drys 'clean'. works very well on glass, dash, wheels. p.s. I'm going to experiment using 425 with waffle weave type towels only which means no hooked microfiber towels, the kind with the prickly ends that everyone in the world has now. I cleaned the car a month ago and forgot to bring along mf towels, I only had waffle weave drying towels (the Poorboys are EXCELLENT) so I did the spray wax and 425 aplication with the waffle weaves and it came out great. MF is great for removing paste waxes and denser liquid waxes where more bite is required but the downside to MF is that it's hard to keep clean and its really overkill for a smooth, freshly prep'd surface-you don't need the bite. kinda like drying your plates with a brillo pad. I have to wash my mf towels several times to seperate the debris from the hooks, that's asking for trouble...better to skip all that and used closed loops like on concours buffing towel in the final detailing steps. |
