My "face lifted" 987

I just installed SY center console and I thought I'd share some pictures of my "face lifted" 987. I'm very happy with the console, factory like quality + exact color match!

jinijazz . . . .

that is one sweet looking ride! How about some other body shots, also where did you have the console done? . . Looks like glass

Great Job!

Looks great! I love Speed Yellow. Who did the painting?

The selt belts look cool too! And the SY shift knob.

jinijazz 03-31-2007 08:15 AM

Thanks, guys.

The console was done by exotic-toys in FL.
Tony is a great person to deal with, offering core exchange too.
I wish he is in CA!

I am starting to like the Chrome Boxster badge.... I may have to get the
Chrome package for my deck lid.
Nice Job!

bmussatti 03-31-2007 08:27 AM

jinijazz, have you considered painting the side vents SY?

Like this?

I'm still debating on that. How do you like yours?

dcporsche99 03-31-2007 09:19 AM

Real nice Jinijazz!

BTW, did you have your center console done by the guys on Ebay??

bmussatti 03-31-2007 09:20 AM

Jinijazz, I love the painted side vents! But, I like a more monochromatic look. Yours looks great either way.

Thanks dcporsche99,
Yep yep yep. ebay. I actually saw his work prior to my order, and talked to several people who ordered from him. He is one of the few ebay sellers who I highly recommend!

edevlin 03-31-2007 10:25 AM

Sweet ride, boy does it look clean... I like the yellow color a lot, how hard is that color to keep clean?

Ed

super66 03-31-2007 04:14 PM

looks great! I have to agree on the vents....with the roll bars, console, and lap belts you almost have to tie them in yellow, I had the same idea to paint my shifter CW but thought it might just get too dirty...

jinijazz 04-01-2007 09:58 AM

Hmmm looks like painted side vents is the way to go...
Anyone has close up picture? bmussatti?

edevlin, the shifter is leather, not painted.
I use Lexol cleaner & protector, so far so good.

super66, I thought you changed your wheels, no?

bmussatti 04-01-2007 10:04 AM

Here are some close ups. The work was done by Eric at Bumperplugs:

btw....I just went with bumperplugs for my vents....in a couple weeks I'll be posting the painted guys for all to see....love that yellow....I'll be going SY for my 350 HP 2010 988

bmuss, was that clear plastic fender cover yellowish like that from the begining, or it got like that with time? Just remembered that the guy who installed my clear bra said clear covers were the toughest to keep un-noticable over white.

Man that sucks. New shoes, can't go out.
Can't wait to see the white vents with new wheels.

I'm still debating Carrera S wheel or Carrera Classic.
Classic was my favorite, but Carrera S wheels looks really good in person.
Then again, I wish they were 18". Oh well...

Z.

Z, good eye! You should be a Concours Judge. They did slightly "yellow". But I have not lost Concours points for that. Only for having dirty edges on the clear stone shields- wax build-up (lost points first time...second time I nailed it!). I have since had the clear stone shields replaced under warranty for dirt that was underneath.

The guy who installed the new clear shields said stuff like wheel gloss and some other products make 'em yellow. I'll see how it goes this summer.

jinijazz 04-02-2007 10:59 AM

Getting yellow is not a problem on yellow car(indeed!), but how do you clean the edge of the clear shields? I can see the dirt line along the edge that I cannot clean successfully.
