Battery problem?

Lately I have been having problems with my battery running down after leaving the car idle for 4 or 5 days.
The nearly new battery has tested good and the nearly new alternator has tested good.

then replaced the brake fluid.

That sounds like good advice. Why change the pads and rotors before you need to.
I expect by the time your pads wear down and the light comes on, the rotors will be ready for replacement too.

What's this noise?

I get this noise (sounds like a vacuum cleaner) when starting from cold. It goes off after about 20 seconds. No smoke and no cel.
Any ideas?

Car is now back together. I had to solder new wires to the pins in the knock sensor plug.
put in new (recon) Bosch alternator. All working great.
I have heard of at least 3 instances of rats eating...

I had it tested and came back as alternator bad.
I have changed a Voltage regulator before on a BMW - then the alternator went out 2 months later - so now I just do the whole thing.

Update! Rats must DIE!!!

So it turns out I have a bad alternator - easy.
Just it pulled it out and I can now see what Mr Rat Bastard has been up too.:mad: Apart from covering the engine block in poop & peepee he has also...

This is the best advice. Invest in really good tires and learn and practice braking and cornering technique. Once it clicks it makes a big difference.
