I also look at tire weight. I'd run 255/35/18 since it decreases overall dia, and weight and will provide me with enough lateral grip.

If you paid a mechanic just park it at his shop and tell him to call you when it's fixed. He'll bleed the system a few times , then install a new slave cylinder and then decide it's got to come apart.
