I'll be pulling my 140,000 engine and transmission, what should I replace or inspect?

2000 S, 140,000 miles. The car just recently became a pleasure to drive because I completed a full suspension and brake refurbish on it. But, with the more frequent driving some drivetrain issues...

Well, I didn’t find a “smoking gun” but in the process of removing the intake tubes and going back through all of the vacuum junctions that I possibly could have knocked loose during the previous...

I didn’t mess with that but I probably need to smoke test after that check valve. I connected the smoker last time to the intake manifold and the smoke wouldn’t have been able to go through this...

Fix or delete secondary air injection

I've recently developed P0410 and P1411 on a 130,000 mile, 2000 Boxster S. I've been messing around with the intake and whatnot to replace the power steering reservoir, AOS, and the purge valve so...

Thanks, I hadn't seen that particular diagram in my searching. It doesn't help that the names of the parts isn't consistent across all of the sources I've seen. I had the coke bottle sound but...

I just went to all B6 and the ride is not harsh at all around town. It’s hard to compare because my original fronts were completely shot and providing no dampening. I’d go B6.

Actually, I did. I just rebuilt the brakes and that side had one bleeder screw that was leaking for the first couple of drives. It may have caused it to get hotter if that caliper wasn’t retracting...

CV shafts slinging grease

My rear wheels kept being slung with grease but my CV shaft boots were in a sad, dry rotted state. I just finished putting on new boots and fresh grease yesterday and figured this would be resolved...

This is done and seems to be resolved. I don’t recommend the Centrics kits I mentioned below. Half of the dust boots were wrong by like .5 mm and all of the bleeder screws were wrong. I kept the...

Oh, I used to also have difficulty starting after adding fuel but that was also resolved by replacing the evap purge valve under the left side of the intake manifold.

Still can’t add fuel

I’ve had my ‘00 Boxster S since October and have never been able to add fuel without it overflowing and shutting off the pump. I replaced the purge valve (under the intake manifold) first as I had a...

Longer lug bolts on rear?

I bought my 2000 Boxster S with one size larger tires than stock. The rear had 1/4” spacers to clear the tires. I’m going back to the original tire size and eliminating the spacers but the rear lug...

This sounds exactly like when my fuel pump was failing. It was definitely atypical vs. any other fuel pump failure I’ve had in the past. I had a handful of hot no-start situations. In each case...

Rear brakes dragging. Should I rebuild the calipers?

2000 Boxster S, 130k mi. The rear brakes have been intermittently dragging since before I owned the car. They get very hot, smell like burning brakes, and have worn the rotors pretty bad. I've got...

The emergency release cable may be binding on something and not pulling against the latch effectively as it makes a 90-degree turn to the wheel well without anything nice to pivot around. It may also...

2000 Boxster S with difficulty adding fuel. Intermittent P1128 and "coke bottle" sound from the filler neck. When I trip the flapper reed switch I can hear/feel the electrical valve at the top of...
