Help 987 owners, Questions on PASM/Traction Control

On the dashboard i see 2 buttons, one is "Sport mode" and the other "PASM off". i have trouble understanding what they both mean.

The dealer they told me "PASM off" means turning off the traction...

hm.... they dont really provide any stats from the factory on sales and inventory figures. i would conservatively estimate anywhere between 4000-8,000 porsches on the road with at least 200-300 each...
