I had my mechanic just try to turn the engine with a wrench. I didn't care to spend another dime investigating. Pretty upsetting/frustrating to me.
Those who know more than me about the 2.5 engines...

The car had 77,000+ miles on it when the engine failed.
While I had the car, the brakes, rotors and sensors were replaced with OEM German parts. The front and rear control arms/bushings were also...
