I'm pretty sure the difference in coil over diameter is 986 to 987 rather than 2.5/7 to S.

To go 987S gearbox you can use 987 axles into 986 S hubs but you need to take apart the 987 driveshafts...

What did you think about the increase in weight? The 6 speed is way heavier than a 5 speed, not a swap I'd have done on a n/a engine through choice.
