I own a corvette with over 450hp and I rarely use it cause like you feel it's too much...at 50 mph it breaks the tires lose...I prefer my boxster...I can beat on it without the fear of the car...

If you unplugged the mass air flow sensor and it runs better doesn't that mean the mass air flow sensor is the issue? Did you try cleaning it?:confused:
