Have you re-programed your DME or installed a 996 gauge cluster?? If so, the Cars original program must be loaded into the DME then turn on your dash computer and then re-install the DME program...

I installed a 3.4 996 motor in my 1998 Boxster and also added a 996 gauge cluster.
I re-flashed my original DME with a 996 ROW flash. My gas gauge worked fine but I needed to reprogram the cluster...

You mentioned adding a new motor mount up front. I had to shim the front motor mount as well as both rear mounts. If you did not sim the front that might be your problem.

Harness

I had to use a Boxster harness. Meaning, I got rid of the 996 harness and used the Boxster harness while adding the needed wires for my 996 cluster I also installed.
You can not use the 996 harness...

Timing

Yes, you only need one lock. You only do one side at a time. Then rotate the engine.
Set the lock on the other side of the engine and re-time that side.

You have a 5.2.2 DME in your 1998 Boxster. Your Durametic is limited by the DME
in your car as to what you are able to read. The newer the DME the more information you can pull from the car. ...
