I have a 2000 and it doesn't make any sound that I would call ticking during the startup. Sounds like a bad starter to me. I can't compare clutches on the 2.5 and 2.7 sorry.

Does anyone know the redlines for each model year Boxsters? Specifically as indicated on the instrument clusters? I assume the 97-99 models redlined at @6500 rpms (2.5L) and 00-??(2.7L) at @7000...
