Thank you for your replies.

The car does not exhibit any of the other signs of a failed AOS, so I decided to just clean the TB for now and put everything back together. The idle is very steady...

Does this mean the AOS is toast?

Hi,

2001 S. Experiencing a bit of hunting idle. Took out the TB to clean it. Found oil in the intake, see pics. This points to the AOS, right?

Thanks so much!

Question for those who have replaced their control arms

Hello,

I am in the process of redoing my 986S's suspension. I'm installing the ROW M030 package, and am replacing everything else that looks worn.

That's where my question comes in: the front...

I have never seen my temp gauge show this high, even after long idling in 90 degree weather. Note the outside temp in the picture is 56 degrees.

Yeah, I figured you know what you are doing... cool!

Would you mind at the end of your project to share a brief summary of what all you replaced, and the approximate overall cost in parts?

It's not entirely clear to me, but your description of the waterpump replacement seems to indicate that you replaced your waterpump with one with a metal impeller?
I hope you didn't, as that would...

erratic rpms off-idle

2001 Boxster S. Not sure if the following indicates a problem, but I thought it was somewhat odd.

When the car is stopped, out of gear, idling, and I just try to raise the idle a tad bit by...

2000rpm for a "normal" start? I do not start from anything much above idle... no vibrations. The clutch take-up action does take a little bit getting used to though.

Years ago, I used Dupli-Color Engine Enamel, Ford Red. I didn't do a scientific study, but I think it came out very close to the original powder coated color.

I would definitely add a clear coat,...

My opinion is that you are better off polishing the old lenses. If the yellow really offends you, clear OEM or Litronics would be - IMHO - a far more tasteful choice, and certainly more in keeping...

The m2 headers I got are done with a similar idea (shove round tubing into oval), but they actually fill-welded the transition on the inside. It's...

Idle temporarily rises when A/C starts??

I've had the following "problem" for quite a while now. When the car is at idle, and the A/C cuts in or I turn it on via the snowflake button, the idle rpm go up by perhaps 100-200 rpm for a second...

I have M2 (ebay) headers; they have a 42mm primary OD. This seems a pretty reasonable primary size to support a 250-280 hp car.

I guess you...

I don't see why, given your driving situation, you need to upgrade the brakes. The stock brakes have more than sufficient power to stop your car very quickly, at Autobahn speeds. What bigger brakes...
