The motor had the early problem that other Boxster motors suffered from, poor casting or maching . The cylinder would slip and allow the piston to hit one or all of the valves and no compression....

Not sure if you have tried the Boxster wiht B&M shoft shifter in place, but that makes one hello of a difference.
Short shifts and notchy, very positive, love it.
