When I replaced mine I swiped the plastic tabs with some large grit sandpaper a couple times. Went right in and stayed tight.

I've tried driving in my Caterpillar work boots before. That was ugly. If I went to depress the brake pedal I would just about hit all three pedals...

My tires still have at least half of their warranted tread life left. They are nice and supple with no signs of dry rot. However, the DOT date stamp is 0808 (8th week of 2008) I thought I read once...
