Book/manual holder underneath steering column

This is probably the stupidest question, but how do I remove it? I'm kinda tall, so my shin constantly rubs it when heel/toeing. It has these plastic grommet taps or whatever holding it in, but I'm scared to yank it out of there. Please advise.

Thanks,
Paul

I don't know how to remove that, but that's not a bad question... mine hardly holds anything I put in that tray. It always flies out when I accelerate hard and/or turn spiritedly... or wreck.

Mine is partially broken. Not sure how its fastened on (torx type bolt for instance) but think I might just drill out the other "bolt" that is holding it on and not worry about it anymore ;)

Just yank it out.... seriously. The plastic screw on mine was broken on the left side so it kept sliding up and down while driving. I finally got the guts to just pull the entire shelf off. Doing this will bend and possibly break the plastic screws holding it in but shouldn't damage anything else.

My dash is now rattle free ;)

It is held in place with 2 plastic rivets. You need to push out the small round pin in the middle of the rivet.

I have a little leather covered notebook that I keep my maintenance and fuel logs in... it fits perfectly in that little bin! Nice and snug!
