Quick engine harness question

In my haste to remove the engine last fall I wasn't diligent in labelling wires as I disconnected them. In fact, I didn't label any of them, for some reason. I only have one wire, a fairly heavy gauge red one with a large ring terminal. that I cannot figure out what it connects to, but my suspicion is that it goes to the main power lead at the top front of the engine, can anyone confirm that?

Pic for clarity:

Since that red heavy gauge cable is next the alternator, I would bet that it is the alternator cable, you should disconnect the battery to avoid shortening that cable until you connect it where it goes.

Gilles is right, here is a picture from my engine that is out for valve chain pad replacement.

Both of these cables attach on the same post at the rear of the alternator.

That was my next guess, to the alternator, thanks guys. Don't worry about the battery, the engine is on a stand currently, just dressing it up to go back in, hopefully soon!
