How do you Build for Torque 3.2 Ltr
Hey Guy's,..I will be rebuilding a 2000 3.2 ltr engine, And Iam curious on how can you build for more Torque and HP,..Iam interested in more Torque first, with more HP as a bonus if thats possible,I already have the 987 airbox,74 mm TB,and plenum..I will be running headers also,..but I also want hi-way speeds aswell,..say a crusing speed of 80-90 MPH,..can you get the best of both world's ??
Thank's for the help.! Frank |

Bolt-on's will only net you so much, but there is a gain to be had. In order of ROI: 1. Exhaust; headers, cats, mufflers. (Get it to breathe out) 2. Intake; airbox, plenum, tb. (Get it to breathe in) 3. Tune. I got one from VR Tuned. they send you a kit to flash your own using your laptop. Truth on this: you won't see higher peak numbers, but you'll get much more acreage under the curve. Trust me; it's worth the $800 or so. But do it last. get all the other parts together and working first. |
Well that's good to know..my other issue is Iam taking parts from a 3.2 that has a hole in the top of the case..I have a new case ( Thank's 78F350 Great case ) But I dont know what shape the crank ,rod's or heads are in..I do have a 2000' M.Y. bottom end from a 911 , I think I could use the crank and rod's from that engine if I need to correct ? Thank's again ! Frank

You may add two more "add on:s".. It seem to be consensus that using the 996 intake does quite a lot, at least according to some who have tried it here on the forum. Also if you go for the 987 Airbox, you can also use the 987 MAF-tube. This WILL need a tune, or at least an updated MAF-table.

Thank's Gilles..That's true I will ck the cylinder size on my 911 bottom end,..And thats a good idea. Starter986 Ive read about that,Do you or anyone know know if they are a direct bolt on to 986 S heads ? that would be perfect Because I dont want to punch out my Boxster S cylinders ??
Thank's again, Frank |

If the 996-intake is a direct fit? You need to drill some new holes in the head and lower the engine to make it fit. |

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1708364968.jpg The port on the head is a pretty good match for the intake already. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1708365016.jpg |
Sweet..Thank's 78F350 whats the guess on HP/TQ 280//250 ? Thank's ! Guy's,.. Frank

Ahh ok .would that crank fit a 3.2 Ltr case, if so would it be possible to use the 3.2 Ltr piston's also ..?? Thank's

Hello...I have located a 996 intake system,..But the ports are more oval,my 2.7 is a bit more triangular, I have'nt pulled my 3.2 Ltr yet, so I don't know what those intake ports look like,..trying to figure my best option for building a stronger, reliable engine..? Thank's Frank

The lower portion of the 996 intake is a separate piece and mounts to the head with a metal gasket. The port is generally oval except for the injector mount. Is that what you're looking at?http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1711118991.jpg
Note, this picture shows the bottom of the intake facing upwards. |
Ahh..Ok..Thank You Sir..!!
