Help needed, we can`t find oil cooler orings for the boxter 2.5
Hello, we fixing a 2.5 boxter it has an oil cooler leak, so far we tried all available rings
P999-707-409-40 P999-707-389-40 P999-707-344-40 P999-707-193-40 which doesn`t fit. So we are guessing maybe it`s an early production model and orings were changed for the follow-up models. Here is a VIN number WP0CA2982VS621430, we hope that someone could help us to find the right part. Thanks, Elai |
Your VIN identifies it as a 1997 model. They do have a different style oil cooler.
Are you installing an oil cooler for a 1997? Be sure to specify the model year when you search. That's the only year with that style. If you are installing a later model oil cooler on your '97 you need an adapter plate like this: Quote:

Yes it is 97 and we are not changing oil cooler, we just trying to fix the oil leak. So seems looks like the one we have on the car has different orings and no one can figure out where to get those.
As of now, it looks like we might need to install a later oil cooler with that adapter plate. |
I did a search at dealers specifically for a '97 and came up with the same part numbers that you already listed.
The Parts Catalog shows only those o-rings too. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1691592853.jpg Can you post a pic of your oil cooler, where it mounts and the o-rings? I'm curious to see exactly what the problem is. |
The car pissed off us and in storage but i will do pictures next week, thanks for the reply.

The '97 engines bled air from a tube on the oil pump housing. The hose on top of the oil cooler replaced that on later models. This thread discusses how to deal with that: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/82884-97-motor-98-car-oil-pump-plug.html
I think the best solution is the plug that trygve found. Part #99610711900 |
