Can I program for a 996 cluster to get oil temp via OBD?

I would like to have my dealer reprogram the system to read the oil pressure like on the 996, but without spending money on the actual cluster. I would rather read the value through my OBD reader for logging.

Is this possible, or will the system malfunction if the 996 cluster is not found by the system?

Read through this. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/90-ELEC-996_Cluster/90-ELEC-996_Cluster.htm

Oil pressure is done via a sender not the DME so no programming will get it to the obd reader.

Thanks for the information.
I did not even consider that the oil pressure could be isolated from the computers.
