I know that the Boxster S isn't a drag car, but it is still fun to race with other cars in the straight.

As for Japanese vs German build quality, i have to say Japanese cars are better build in terms of reliability. Sure the German have leather here and there and it makes everything look nice, but Japanese car are so damn reliable and hard to break down. We have 2 Porsches at home and 2 Jap cars and they are just so damn reliable. I know a few friends that have Cayenne and X5 and i heard lots of electric problems that they encounter or other sort of problems. Where as my 4runner ltd just keep on running and running even at 270,000km on it. Not a single problem, no electric failure and no mechanical failure as well. I will have to say Japanese over German for build quality.

Highway drag racing is illegal and puts yourself and others in danger.

What about that is "fun" to you?

Grow up and stick to the track.

Mass effects acceleration at any starting speed. The forces of drag are more of a percentage of the total force on the car, maybe that's what you mean?

We are saying the same thing but wording it differently. Mass is a lower percent contributor to the total force holding the car back from accelerating when traveling at freeway speeds.

S2000s are in the low 2800lb range with all fluids. About 150-200lbs lighter than a Boxster S.

S2000s are very quick and capable cars, on par with a Boxster S. In terms of quality, it's a toss-up. They are very well constructed cars and the quality of materials is very very good. The Boxster has some advantages like a much nicer top (insulated and lined - makes a big difference) and a much more refined driving experience. It's quieter and more luxurious. The penalty is weight.

Yes, I used to do this kind of thing when I was very young and lacked maturity. But, hey, I grew up and learned how to make sound decisions, spell correctly, and other useful things.

Perhaps you should try that instead of street racing?

Now, track racing is always available.

Forgive me for keeping this post on target, but I think an S2k would get spanked by a Boxster S. Even a 2.7 can pull away from the Honda at highway speeds.

Yes the 2.7L does pull away from an S2k at highway speeds...I've had first hand experience :D

Here's some second gear acceleration #s. There's no contest.

Just don't try it with a Subaru Forester Turbo.

No, he's right, highway drag racing is fun... Until you're 20 years old and in a wheelchair, and your brothers dead... but it hasnt happened to you yet so yea, go for it

Interesting...according to that site the 2001 Boxster S is faster than the 2003 Boxster S.
