Speed alerts

Hi Guys..

just got my dream Boxster S '07, adrinaline levels are still in the red.. the problem is there's a preset speed alert triggered at 120 kph non stop!!! and that is other than those driver set alerts that go off only once in a nice beep.

Any idea how to disable this alarm or do i have to live with it??!!! who drives a porsche less than 120 kph anyway?!!!!

That is a programmable "feature", dumb though it is.

Get your salesman to show you how to set it to wherever
you want it to be.

161 - 164 mph ought to be fast enough.

Yes, Houston C4S is correct, this should also be covered in your owners manual. You use the stalk on the steering wheel to change this warning limit. This is the same stalk that actives the Chrono Watch, and gives you your readouts for MPG, Ave. Speed and Distance to Empty.

Hi,

In some ROW versions, a maximum Speed Alert is pre-programmed as a requirement of the Importing Country, Dubai may be one of these.

This is beyond what the OBC can be programmed for by the Driver, and can only be accessed with the Dealer software. You may find that a local Dealer will not violate this requirement.

I would 1st check your owners manual and see if this is the OBC or mandated Speed Gong, then go from there. BTW, @Houston C4S - 120 KPH = 74.5 MPH, not 161-164MPH...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

Jim, the way I read Houston C4S' response it that 161-164 would be a better setting then the current setting. :)

mnematallah,

I think you are the first forum member to own a 07 S... you lucky person!

Please do post pix and give us your impressions of the 3.4 behind your back. We're all drooling over the fact that the 07 S's have this larger engine in it!

Hi Guys..

I tried to set it using the stalk.. no matter what value i set it to, it still rings at 120 kph (75 mph!!) !!! and trust me its very annoying non stop!! guess i 'll go back and shoot the salesman!!. And if it is a country regulation that would be very dumb, coz we already have roads with a 160 kph (100mph) speed limit!!

Feed Back about the new engine... really guys with this handling and that amazing power... who would need a 911??!! 0-160 KPH (100 MPH) was just slightly in excess of 12 seconds!! though porsche themselves say its 13.2!! can say no more..

Thanks for the advise guys.
