resonance tube direction

I realize the tube has an arrow which should point to the passenger side. However, in replacing an engine, I find I don't have room for the vacuum valve to fit in the original location, as the A/C hoses seem to have migrated to block that spot. So, the question is: does that direction matter? It would seem there's a reason the engineers put an arrow on there, but the design doesn't seem to mandate that as there's flow both directions from the TB. I'll do what I need to do, but curious about this. Thanks!
